I used to be the blogger called YAL Book Briefs, but I grew bored of the handle and changed my name to Howdy YAL. I also respond to MJ. I like to read, write, eat truffles, and watch bad Lifetime movies.
To my great excitement, my book store had set out this book out early and like a Silver Blood I devoured it. Unlike the other books, instead of having alternative chapters in different point of views, the book is divided into sections (first Schuyler's POV, then Mimi's, then Deming's). A lot of set up is going on here for the future books. As usual, there are some major cliffhangers at the end of this addition in the series, one of them in particular is bittersweet and potentially heart wrenching. My biggest problem with it was that it was way too short. After Van Alen Legacy, which was almost four hundred pages long, this book was tiny (a mere 250 pages). However, in those 250 or so pages Melissa put a ton of action and detail in the plot. Not only that but there was some major character development as well, particularly concerning Mimi Force (I'm actually starting to like her better than Schuyler in a strange sort of way). The addition of Deming Chen was nice, however I did miss Bliss which sort of surprised me since she wasn't a favorite of mine. Also, Jack and Schuyler's relationship was developed nicely as well. We actually see them together for once interacting with each other. In all, kudos Melissa for another great book. Now I just have to wait another year to get the next one (sigh).
