I used to be the blogger called YAL Book Briefs, but I grew bored of the handle and changed my name to Howdy YAL. I also respond to MJ. I like to read, write, eat truffles, and watch bad Lifetime movies.
Honestly, I should just warn you this is probably one of if not my favorite series in the young adult genre. I love everything about these books and the thing is they just keep getting better as they go on. The first book really kicks the series off in a great direction. Schuyler Van Alen is the perfect protagonist. An outcast who goes to a posh school, Schuyler is really relatable. The other two main leads in the books: Mimi and Bliss aren't as relatable. Mimi comes off as spoiled and vapid in the first book, while there's just something off about Bliss though she is likeable. Melissa also does a great job with the romantic interests in these books as well. Jack Force is the perfect guy. There's no other way to describe him and Sky's best friend Ollie is just adorable. Unlike a lot of books both love interests are rootable here. And then there's the action. de la Cruz knows how to write grisly action scenes that leave you wanting more after you turn the last page.See full review on: http://yalbookbriefs.blogspot.com/
